About Novabook
Novabook is the “Accountant for Startups” founded by Stephen Wilks & Lukas Feddern. Our team previously founded, scaled and sold a technology company for $50M. We started Novabook to solve the problems we faced during this process. Our aim is to make the financial processes of starting, running and selling a business in the UK easier.
Why join us?
Founded by the team that led Seneca Learning to 12M users and a successful acquisition, Novabook is growing rapidly with a 50-person team and a product spanning payments, open banking, payroll, workflow & automated bookkeeping.
Novabook was born out of our personal experiences with the shortcomings of traditional accountancy practices while running Seneca. After dealing with inefficient software and unreliable accountancies for 8 years, we believe it's time to tackle these challenges head-on.
In addition to having built an 8-figure startup before, our founders have been named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list and Maserati 100. Our team also has experience working at Morgan Stanley, HSBC, Financial Times, and Forward Partners.
Culture
We are well-funded but the hardest period of a start-up is always the first couple of years, when the team is small, and you are heavily relied on personally. But this also exposes you to the most interesting period of a company’s lifecycle and also the period where you can learn the most & earn the most material rewards. You won’t be expected to work evenings & weekends, but you will be expected to work hard when on the job.
About the role
You will lead and develop Novabook’s Company Secretarial function, helping us deliver seamless governance support to modern businesses.
You will be our go-to person for all company secretarial matters. You will ensure statutory registers and Companies House filings are maintained accurately and on time, handling share allotments and transfers, PSC updates, director appointments and resignations, and the filing of confirmation statements and dormant accounts.
Alongside delivering high-quality governance support, you will advise founders and directors on company law, compliance requirements, and best practice governance, helping them understand their duties and responsibilities.
You will contribute to improving internal processes to ensure our company secretarial function operates efficiently as we scale.
Requirements
Solid understanding of UK company law and the Companies Act 2006
Experience managing company secretarial processes within a fast-paced environment
Confident handling Companies House filings and maintaining statutory records independently
Experience with company secretarial or entity management software (e.g. CCH, Diligent, or similar) is advantageous
CGI/ICSA qualification preferred but not essential
About the application process
The hiring process consists of four steps:
15-minute screening call with Talent Lead
Time-bound task
20-minute virtual technical round
Final Round Interview
